When you perform these procedures to remove odors from furniture, floors, and the air, no one will know you have a pet in the house.

A few things are more terrible than returning home to the foul odor of… a dog? Litter box for cats? A cage for hamsters? Don’t be concerned. We offer a comprehensive guide to removing pet odors from your home right here.

Getting Rid of Pet Odors in Your Carpets and Furniture
Nothing hides a dog’s odor like fabric. The easiest approach to keeping Fido’s funk off your carpets and furniture is to prevent it from occurring in the first place. Here are our top preventative recommendations:

Never allow a wet dog to sit on the carpet or furniture. You know how much they enjoy rubbing down after a bath, but don’t let them in a carpeted room or on the couch until they’re entirely dry. If you’ve come in from a wet walk, use an old towel to dry off at the entrance. If necessary, use a blow dryer.

Buy a vacuum with a washable filter and clean it after each use. Maintain an extra filter supply so that you always have a clean one on hand. Vacuum furniture and rugs at least. Remove the cushions from the couch and vacuum below and in all crevices if feasible.

Make use of a slipcover. Use a washable slipcover to prevent hair and dander from getting on the furniture if your pet must lounge on the couch or has claimed the recliner as their own. Shake it vigorously outside once a week and wash it in hot water.

Getting Rid of Pet Odors in Carpet
Accidents will happen if you have a puppy or an elderly pet. In that case, it is critical to eliminate the trash and associated odor as quickly as feasible.

Soak up as much pee as possible using paper towels or newspaper. Step on the paper and press down to absorb more. If feasible, place an old (but clean) towel beneath the rug as well. Odors, on the other hand, like to remain in carpets. Here are a couple methods for completely removing it.

Baking powder
Baking soda, an all-natural odor neutralizer, aids in the removal of pet odors from carpeting. Spread liberally over the damaged area and leave it to work overnight. To remove, thoroughly vacuum.

Carpet dry cleaning
If your carpet is newer, the manufacturer may advise against using baking soda on it. Consider a dry carpet cleaner in that scenario. It is a granular substance with a sawdust-like consistency that absorbs spills, smells, and stains by working its way into the carpet fibers. You don’t have to keep off the floor since it’s dry, and once it’s finished, you vacuum. Wool, sisal, and oriental rugs are not damaged by Host Dry Carpet Cleaner.

Spray odor neutralizers
Apply a high-quality pet odor neutralizer after you’ve soaked up as much pee as possible.
